Community members in the Dorchester School Distrct 2 area in South Carolina will soon be able to participate in active-shooter training courses. The district’s Safety and Security Task Force decided to offer this training to the community after learning that 44 percent of active-shooter threats occur within business settings.
Research by The Violence Project’s co-founders Jill Peterson and James Densley has found no real-life evidence that active-shooter drills deter shooters or protect people during a shooting.
