Active-Shooter Security Drills Are ‘Ineffective,’ Researchers Find

Research published by The Violence Project’s Jillian Peterson and James Densley was featured in an article discussing the ineffectiveness of active-shooter drills. Because school and workplace shooters are typically insiders, they are able to plan their attacks with security procedures in mind. Peterson and Densley recommend investment into mental health services and crisis intervention training, as well as gun sale regulation.
